On September 9, 2010, Michael and Dana McCusker were on top of the world as Dana had
just given birth to their first child, Shane Shimatsu McCusker. Shane was a beautiful baby
and shortly after he was born, he was diagnosed with a rare congenital heart disease and
was airlifted to UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital to undergo numerous tests and a complex
heart surgery.

The Pediatric Cardiology Department at UCLA was heroic in their efforts to save Shane's
life, yet unfortunately, Shane's heart was far too special and unique for this world. Following Shane's passing, Michael and Dana barely blinked before committing themselves to starting a foundation in his memory. The Shane McCusker Foundation, also known as Shane's Heart, is dedicated to bring awareness of fetal heart screening and supporting the
doctors and families served in the pediatric cardiology department at UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital.

As an avid golfer, it was Michael's dream to have a golf tournament to raise funds for Shane's Heart. This summer, that dream is becoming a reality and we cordially invite you to join us on Friday, June 22, 2012, at the beautiful Angeles National Golf Club in Sunland, CA, as we celebrate Shane's life and raise funds and awareness for UCLA's Pediatric Cardiology Department.

There are many ways for golfers and non‐golfers to participate – sponsor, golfer, raffle prize donor, post-tournament dinner attendee, volunteer, etc. – and we hope you will consider coming on board and help us spread the word.

Palos Verdes High School for a successful Shane's Heart Valentine Cupcake Sale. Under the leadership of Senior Kayleigh Fujisaki and the ASB Leadership students, Palos Verdes High sold over 1400 cupcakes!

South High School Kiwins held a benefit concert for Shane's Heart in February and packed the house. A big thank you to organizer Brandon Matsumoto and South High Kiwins for their support.
